Ferran Torres Mural Vandalized in Barcelona

A mural of Spanish footballer Ferran Torres in Barcelona was vandalized after the artist, TvBoy, replaced a previous image of Lionel Messi with a depiction of Torres kissing the World Cup trophy. The artist stated to MARCA that while the work was intended as a tribute to Spain and the player, the act of vandalism served as a favor.

TvBoy replaces Messi mural with Ferran Torres

The artwork was located in the Joanic neighborhood of Barcelona, where a mural of Lionel Messi previously stood. According to reporting from La Vanguardia, the artist known as TvBoy substituted the Messi image for one featuring Ferran Torres. The new piece specifically depicted the forward kissing the World Cup trophy.

Shortly after the installation, the mural was targeted by vandals. Multiple outlets, including SPORT and MARCA, confirmed that the artwork was defaced, removing the tribute to the Spanish international from the wall.

Artist response to the vandalism

TvBoy addressed the destruction of the piece in an interview with MARCA. He clarified that the original intent of the mural was to honor both the Spanish national team and Ferran Torres.

Despite the damage, the artist expressed a lack of grievance regarding the vandalism. He told MARCA, I would paint it again, it was a tribute to Spain and to Ferran Torres, but they have done me a favor.
