Terrifying Fairground Nightmare: Dad Recounts Near-Fatal Waltzer Incident

children “Very, Very Lucky” After Ride Car Detaches and Crashes
Edinburgh, Scotland – A family outing to a local fairground turned into a scene of sheer terror when a Waltzer car detached from the ride and violently collided with another, narrowly avoiding a catastrophic outcome. Dad Kevin McNulty described the harrowing experience, which saw his three children narrowly escape serious injury, as something “you see in the movies.”
A Night of Horror Unfolds
The incident occurred in late May at Westerhailes Plaza, where Kevin and his children, aged 13, 12, and 7, were enjoying the fairground attractions. Kevin was in the car directly behind his childrenS Waltzer car when the unthinkable happened.
“Last night we were at these shows at Westerhailes Plaza, my three kids were on the waltzers with myself and Brooke in car behind,” Kevin recounted. “Then the unthinkable happened. Going FULL PELT (not slowing down) their car came wholly off and then went flying into our car.”
The detached car then smashed into the side of the track. Kevin believes a large, heavy speaker present on the ride was instrumental in preventing a far worse disaster. “Thankfully there was a heavy large speaker that they collided with or they would have been through the whole thing and then the ending would have been a completely different story, a thought I can’t stop thinking about,” he explained.
Children Shaken but Safe
Despite the terrifying ordeal, Kevin’s children were remarkably unharmed, though understandably shaken. “My kids are very very lucky that they managed to get out of this still walking,” he stated, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.
Calls for immediate Inspection
Following the near-fatal incident, Kevin expressed his dismay that the fairground continued to operate, albeit with the Waltzers stopped. “The shows continued to go (not the Waltzers) but place should have been shut down for a full inspection,” he said, highlighting his concern for public safety. The incident brought the carnival to a standstill,leaving many attendees,like Kevin’s family,deeply affected by the terrifying close call.
