Santino Ferrucci Celebrates Road America Podium with Fan’s Beer
ELKHART LAKE, Wis.- Santino Ferrucci capped off a strong performance at Road America by grabbing a beer from a fan after securing a third-place finish Sunday. The 27-year-old IndyCar driver’s podium came after starting in 18th position.

Ferrucci’s chances seemed slim after a poor qualifying session. However, early cautions reshuffled the field, providing an prospect for an aggressive strategy. The A.J.Foyt Racing driver pitted during the third caution, switching to alternate tires.
Mirroring race winner Alex Palou’s strategy, Ferrucci made subsequent stops on laps 24 and 39, maintaining the pace on the softer tires. This strategy allowed Ferrucci to gain positions, moving into the top five during the final stint. Late-race pit stops by Scott Dixon and Alexander Rossi elevated him to third.
Fuel-Saving Strategy Pays Off for Ferrucci

The final laps required fuel conservation, adding to the pressure. “They were counting down the laps, and I told Mike, ‘Listen, I’ve gotta focus, becuase this is getting stressful,'” Ferrucci said. “He let me drive. Honestly the crew did an amazing job on stops. I stalled it, too. Even with the stall, coming back and finishing the way we did was pretty amazing.”
After parking his car,Ferrucci celebrated his Road America podium by grabbing a Miller Lite from a fan in the grandstands.
“This one goes to Marlene,” Ferrucci said. “She was riding with us today. I’m very proud. This one tastes a little bit sweeter.”
This result marks a continuation of strong performances for Ferrucci, including a pair of podiums since the Indianapolis 500. The team feels they are returning to form.
“We’re performing,” Ferrucci said.”We’re back to where we were at the end of last year. I feel it.I’ve gotta get my qualifying performance up, but until then I like padding my points for passing.”
