Tufts Field Hockey Team Competes for NCAA Championship
The Tufts University field hockey team aims to win its 14th NCAA championship today. They play against Middlebury College in the national championship game. The match starts at 1:00 PM EST at Washington and Lee University.

In the semifinals, Tufts (19-2) won 1-0 in overtime against Williams College. Lainie Pearson scored with an assist from Kylie Rosenquest. Middlebury (18-2) won 2-1 against Salisbury University, with Amy Griffin scoring the decisive goal.
This is Tufts’ fifth NCAA final and their second attempt at a national title. Head coach Tina Mattera notes that the Jumbos won their first NCAA title in 2012. They have a 27-13 tournament record in their 15 NCAA appearances.
Middlebury is the six-time defending champion. They seek a seventh consecutive title and their ninth overall. Middlebury defeated Tufts 2-0 in the 2018 NCAA Final. In total, the Panthers hold a 60-16 record in NCAA tournaments.
During the regular season, Tufts ended Middlebury’s 43-game winning streak with a 2-1 victory. Kayleigh McDonald scored both goals for the Jumbos. Tufts also won the NESCAC championship, breaking Middlebury’s six-year winning streak in the conference.
The Jumbos are led by fifth-years Andrea DelGiudice and Lainie Pearson, along with seniors Chloe Brants, Claire Gavin, McDonald, and Rosenquest.
