The FIFA Club World Cup is coming to the U.S.this summer with an expanded format. Thirty-two teams from around the globe will compete for a share of the $1 billion prize. The tournament features several high-profile teams, including UEFA champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain and Argentine powerhouse Boca Juniors.
European teams dominate the field with 12 participants, while South America has six. Asia and Africa each have four teams, and North America is represented by five, including three MLS teams. Auckland City, an amateur side, represents Oceania.
While all teams aim for victory, their stakes vary. Lionel messi’s Inter Miami and Simone Inzaghi’s Al-Hilal hope to make an impact as underdogs against the expected dominance of european clubs.
