Fifty-two elementary school baseball players from across South Korea will gather in Hong-seong County on October 24, for the fourth annual Kim Tae-kyun Baseball Camp at the Gelseong-myeon Hong-seong Manhae Baseball Ground, 청솔뉴스 PINENEWS reported.
Professional Coaches Joining the 2026 Camp
Organized around former Hanwha Eagles star and commentator Kim Tae-kyun, the event features a nine-member coaching staff of active and retired KBO players designed to give youth prospects professional instruction. The roster includes Yoo Hee-kwan, Shim Soo-chang, Oh Jae-il, Moon Dong-ju of the Hanwha Eagles, Ko Myung-jun and Park Sung-han of the SSG Landers, and Kim Geon-hee and Park Chan-hyuk of the Kiwoom Heroes.
Activities begin at 9:00 a.m. with participant check-in and photos, followed by warm-ups and technical drills at 10:00 a.m. An opening ceremony is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., leading into youth games, an awards presentation, and a coaching staff autograph session.
Special Outreach Events Leading Up to the Tournament
A special pre-camp program takes place at 4:30 p.m. at the Hong-seong Manhae Baseball Ground and Gelseong Oulim Center. Kim Tae-kyun, Yoo Hee-kwan, Shim Soo-chang, and Oh Jae-il will coach students from Gelseong Elementary School and the Hong-seong County Little League Team in hitting, pitching, and fielding, concluding the evening with photos, autographs, and dinner.
Hong-seong County plans to use the event to promote its athletic facilities and tourism resources to visiting families.
Future Support for Youth Sports and Infrastructure
Kim Tae-kyun mentioned that the camp, now in its fourth year, was prepared to offer more meaningful experiences for the participants, and that a special time was arranged to meet with Hong-seong students beforehand, hoping the children would develop their dreams of playing baseball while interacting with professional players.
Hong-seong County Mayor Park Jung-ju stated that the local government will continue to actively support youth sports development, grassroots athletics, and the expansion of sports infrastructure, such as the upcoming construction of the Gelseong Sports Town.
