filip Nowacki Eyes 2028 Olympics After Team GB Selection
Filip Nowacki, a student at Millfield School, is setting his sights on the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles after being selected for Team GBS podium Potential program. This achievement follows several years of success for the young swimmer.
Nowacki’s recent accomplishments include breaking the British age-group record for 16-year-olds in both the 100m and 200m breaststroke events in 2024.He also secured a silver medal at the European Junior Championships in the 200m breaststroke. In 2023, he made history as the first Jersey athlete to win three medals at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago, adding to his silver medal win at the European Youth Olympics.
The Team GB program provides Nowacki with specialist support. “It realy goes to show that anything can be done if you really put your mind to it,” Nowacki said. he added, “I was really happy, having gained that support that I now get…specialist nutritionists that help me…along with psychologists and physios as well.”
Nowacki’s selection highlights his potential in swimming and provides him access to resources to enhance his training and performance. He is considered a strong contender for the 2028 Olympics.

Looking ahead, Nowacki is preparing for the European Junior Championships in July. He also anticipates representing Jersey at the Island Games for the first time. He said he was disappointed to miss the 2023 Games due to a scheduling conflict. “It’s very vital,” Nowacki stated. “I’ve only really represented Jersey once in Trinidad and Tobago and I’m really looking forward to representing Jersey again at the Island Games.”
