sundance-bound film about friendship and hope secures distribution deal with Films Boutique
(Salt Lake City, UT) – Amel Guellaty’s debut feature film, “Where the Wind Comes From,” has been acquired by international sales agent Films Boutique ahead of its world premiere in Sundance Film Festival‘s prestigious World Dramatic Competition. The heartwarming Tunisian road trip drama, previously titled “Tunis-Djerba,” will then travel to Europe for its premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
“Where the Wind Comes From” follows Alyssa and Mehdi, childhood best friends yearning for a brighter future beyond the outskirts of Tunis. When Alyssa discovers an art contest in Djerba that could be thier ticket out, she convinces Mehdi to embark on a fantastical journey across Tunisia. Their adventure tests the limits of their friendship and reveals the beauty and challenges of their homeland.

The Tunisian Arabic-language film stars Eya Bellagha and Slim Baccar, with cinematography by Frida Marzouk and editing by Guellaty herself. The film is a co-production between Tunisia, France, and Qatar, produced by Atlas Vision (Tunisia) and Haut Les Mains Productions (France).
“Where the Wind Comes from” was supported by a number of organizations,including the Center National du Cinéma et de l’Image (Tunisia),the Ministere des affaires culturelles tunisien,and the Doha Film Institute,highlighting the international appeal of Guellaty’s story.
