While the game received numerous awards and praise from fans, Square Enix acknowledged that the initial launch did not meet the company’s original expectations.

Following its console debut, Square Enix transitioned the title to the PC market. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was released for Windows on January 23, 2025.
