Finalists Announced for MLB’s MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, and Manager of the Year Awards

2024 MLB Awards Finalists

Most Valuable Player (MVP) Candidates

American League (AL) MVP:

  • Aaron Judge: Led all of baseball in home runs (58), RBI (144), and OPS (1.159) with the New York Yankees. He is the overwhelming favorite to win this award.
  • Bobby Witt Jr.: Hitting .332 with 32 home runs, 109 RBI, 211 hits, 125 runs, and 31 steals, making him a strong contender.
  • Juan Soto: Hit .288 with 41 home runs, 109 RBI, and 128 runs for the New York Yankees.

National League (NL) MVP:

  • Shohei Ohtani: Became the first player in MLB history to record a 50-50 season. He hit .310 with 54 home runs, 130 RBI, 134 runs, and 59 stolen bases for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ohtani led his team to the best record and a World Series title.
  • Francisco Lindor: Had an excellent season with .273 batting average, 33 home runs, 91 RBI, and 29 stolen bases for the New York Mets.

National League (NL) Cy Young:

  • Chris Sale: Shared the MLB lead in wins with 18, had a 2.38 ERA, and led in strikeouts (228) for the Atlanta Braves.
  • Zack Wheeler: Had a 16-7 record with a 2.57 ERA and 224 strikeouts for the Philadelphia Phillies.
  • Paul Skenes: Finished his rookie season with an 11-3 record, 1.96 ERA, and 0.94 WHIP, showcasing potential but might not have enough bodywork to win this year.

Rookie of the Year Candidates

American League (AL) Rookie of the Year:

  • Colton Cowser: Had a significant season with the Baltimore Orioles.
