Updated May 29, 2025

The forecast highlights Finland’s struggle with productivity growth and unfavorable shifts in exchange rates compared to other ⁣nations. ETLA’s analysis indicates that incorporating exchange rate adjustments would reduce both the current year’s gain and the following year’s decline by nearly a percentage ⁢point.

The exchange ratio, defined as the ratio between export and import prices, significantly impacts the material standard of living. According to ETLA,⁤ Finland’s exchange⁣ development lagged behind other countries in the 2010s, and forecasts suggest this trend will continue.

Last year, Finland’s exchange⁤ development was clearly worse than ⁤other countries than in the 2010s. According ⁤to forecasts, decreasing relative development will only continue. The development of the exchange ratio is almost one percentage point‌ in both forecasts than in the competitor’s group, said the researcher Ville Kaitila in the bulletin.

Ville Kaitila, a researcher, stressed the need for increased attention on the exchange ratio’s‌ trajectory, emphasizing its critical role in Finland’s ‍economic ⁤performance and cost competitiveness.

What’s next

Monitoring Finland’s exchange rate and productivity ⁢will be crucial in navigating the predicted economic shifts.Further analysis‌ from ETLA is expected to provide deeper insights into these trends.
