Finneas and Ashe Launch The Favors, Announce Debut Album
updated June 06, 2025
Finneas and Ashe, known for their individual successes, have joined forces to create The Favors, a new musical act.The duo recently revealed their formation and announced their upcoming debut album, The Dream, scheduled for release on Sept. 19. The first single, “The Little Mess You Made,” along with its accompanying music video, premiered Friday.
The video portrays Finneas and Ashe as feuding Hollywood stars in the 1970s,capturing their performance of the song’s lyrics: “The little mess you made is all over the news/The littlest mistake can leave the darkest bruise.” Interspersed are scenes of the pair posing happily, mirroring the album’s cover art. This new music collaboration marks a fresh direction for both artists.
Ashe explained the choice of “The Little Mess You Made” as the album’s introduction: “The last time the world heard us together, it was on such a sweet, tender song and we loved the idea that out the gate you get to hear us fighting for our lives, fighting with each other.” The pair previously collaborated on “Till Forever Falls Apart” from Ashe’s 2021 album, Ashlyn.
Finneas added that the first single needed to represent the project accurately. “This song felt like it encompassed the project in a nice way. An introduction to the favors if you will,” he said, noting that while the album includes jazzy tunes and ballads, this track best encapsulates the band’s overall sound.
The album’s title and cover art evoke Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 album, Rumours.Ashe noted their attraction to the era’s “non-trendy, timeless nature of that sound,” while Finneas called Fleetwood Mac “one of the goats.”
Finneas said, “I’ve loved their music my whole life and when we set out to make this album, I did wonder if we’d end up making songs that felt right out of Rumours. To my surprise, the songs we wrote actually ended up feeling very different than theirs.”
Ashe recalled being in Nashville during a musical hiatus when she texted Finneas about starting a band. “I texted Finneas and asked if we shoudl try it out and he responded, ‘This solves all my problems,” she said.
Finneas said he was in Los Angeles when he received Ashe’s text: “Hear me out what if we started a band….” He added: “Never said yes faster in my life.”
While the duo collaborated on Ashe’s two EPs, Moral of the Story: Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 in 2019, The Dream will be their first record as The Favors.
