Finneas O’Connell has been appointed as the composer for the second season of the Netflix and A24 anthology series BEEF
, which is scheduled to premiere on April 16, 2026. The two-time Academy Award and 11-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and producer will provide the original score for all eight episodes of the upcoming season.
The accompanying soundtrack will be released on April 16, 2026, through A24 Music, a recently launched label from A24. Ahead of the full release, the first single from the project, titled Vicious Thoughts
, has already been made available.
O’Connell dedicated a significant portion of the previous year to the project, stating that he spent the last 12 months in Beef land
while developing the music. He noted that he watched nearly every scene 100 times during the scoring process to ensure the music aligned with the emotional weight of the performances.
Collaboration with Lee Sung Jin
Series creator and showrunner Lee Sung Jin, also known as Sonny Lee, hand-picked O’Connell for the role. Lee described O’Connell as a brilliant mind whose music has influenced his personal life over the last decade and praised his ability to translate dark emotions into beautiful compositions.

Finneas is the brilliant mind behind most of the music that has soundtracked my personal life over the last decade, so it’s an absolute honor to collaborate with him on the new season. He has an incredible ability to make the darkest emotions sound so achingly beautiful, and wait for everyone to hear what he’s cooked up.
Lee Sung Jin
O’Connell expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with Lee and the series cast, describing himself as a true fan of this show
and stating that he felt the emotional resonance of the scenes during the composition process.
Season 2 Narrative and Cast
Following the critical success of the first season, which starred Steven Yeun and Ali Wong and became a major awards contender in 2023, the second season resets the narrative premise with an entirely new cast.
The new story focuses on a Gen-Z couple, Ashley Miller and Austin Davis, played by Cailee Spaeny and Charles Melton. Both characters are lower-level employees at a country club who become entangled in the volatile marriage of their general manager, Joshua Martín, and his wife, Lindsay Crane-Martín, portrayed by Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan.
As the marriage of the general manager and his wife unravels, both couples compete for the favor of the club’s Korean billionaire owner, Chairwoman Park, played by Youn Yuh-hung. The plot further involves Chairwoman Park’s own personal scandals involving her second husband, Doctor Kim, played by Song Kang-ho.
Finneas’s Scoring Background
The work on BEEF
represents one of the most extensive screen projects for O’Connell to date. While widely recognized for his collaborations with his sister, Billie Eilish, he has expanded his footprint in Hollywood scoring through previous projects, including composing for the film The Fallout
and contributing music to various other television and film productions.
This latest collaboration with Netflix and A24 further establishes O’Connell’s transition into full composing duties for high-profile series, moving beyond the role of a contributing artist to the primary architect of a show’s sonic identity.
