The disappearance of Fiona Sinnott, who was 19 at the time, remains one of Wexford’s longest-running investigations. Gardaí have meticulously collated thousands of documents, reports, and conducted numerous interviews as they strive to bring closure to the family.The investigation was upgraded to murder, with significant inquiries and interviews undertaken to understand the circumstances surrounding her vanishing.During the course of the investigation, Wexford Gardaí interviewed six individuals, all of whom were subsequently released without charge. The last confirmed sighting of Fiona Sinnott was as she left a local pub.
Crucial Witness Appeal: The night of the Disappearance
A motorist reported seeing a man and a woman on a road near Kisha Cross, a short distance from the pub, around midnight on the night of Fiona’s disappearance. Two males, estimated to be in their late teens or early twenties, were also observed nearby. these four individuals have never come forward, and Gardaí are particularly anxious to trace them or anyone else who was in the vicinity and did not, or could not, provide information at the time.
Renewed appeals and Ongoing Search Efforts
A renewed appeal for witnesses was made in Febuary 2023, marking the 25th anniversary of Ms. Sinnott’s disappearance. Most recently,a search operation commenced on open ground in Co. Wexford, involving excavation, technical, and forensic examinations. Road closures and diversions were in place to facilitate the operation.
