Fire Brigade Surprise on Groom’s Wedding Day

David Nevin was putting on the final touches of his suit at his parents’ home when a fire truck arrived. His friends and fellow fire officers came out, ready for a surprise organized by his thoughtful bride, Mary Boyle. This visit took place on the morning of their wedding in County Tipperary, with the reception at The Lakeside Hotel in Killaloe, Co Clare.

Mary expressed her affection for David’s colleagues in the fire service and noted the importance of capturing special moments with them on such a significant day. “The pictures are so precious to us; they all have a great bond,” she shared.

The couple held their ceremony at the hotel by the water. Only one crew member could attend the wedding, as the others were on call. Mary chose her sister Karen as her maid of honor and selected friends Emma Kenneally and Becky Gleeson as bridesmaids. David’s brother Andrew was his best man, and several friends rounded out his groomsmen.

Mary, who works as an adult support worker, and David, a fireman and storeman, met at a birthday party in August 2016. David proposed on Christmas Day in 2022, outside Mary’s family home, allowing her to celebrate the news with her loved ones immediately.

Their wedding day was coordinated with help from both sets of parents, noted by Mary as “absolutely perfect from start to finish.” The ceremony featured music from singer and guitarist Jason Fahy and included a sand ceremony with personal vows.

The couple enjoyed a delicious four-course meal during the reception, which also featured a doughnut wall, a sweet wall, and other treats. The band Blue Moose kept everyone dancing, and a photo booth added to the fun.

Mary found her wedding gown at Little White Dress in Limerick, with hair by Joanne Lane and makeup by Aoife Harty. David and his party wore suits from Jim McLoughney Menswear in Nenagh. A family friend managed the floral designs.

After the wedding, the newlyweds honeymooned in Lanzarote.
