Fire Suspension: BKC Metro Station in Mumbai Halts Services After Blaze

BKC Metro Station Fire Incident

On November 15, 2024, passenger services at the BKC Metro Station in Mumbai were temporarily halted after a fire broke out in the basement. The fire occurred at approximately 1:10 PM and involved wooden sheets, furniture, and construction materials located 40-50 feet underground. Smoke spread to the station, prompting the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) to take precautionary measures.

Fire brigades quickly responded, deploying eight fire engines to control the situation. By 2:30 PM, the fire was fully contained. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries.

A message from Mumbai Metro stated, “For passenger safety, we have paused services. Senior officers of MMRC & DMRC are on site. Please proceed to Bandra Colony station for alternative boarding.” The station serves as a pivotal link on Mumbai’s first underground Metro line, connecting Aarey Colony to the Bandra-Kurla Complex.

The BKC Metro Station is part of a 12.69-kilometre stretch, which is integrated into the 33.5-kilometre Colaba-Seepz-Aarey Metro Line 3. This line aims to enhance connectivity to major airports and popular local transport modes, benefiting commuters across the city.
