The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) mourns the loss of⁢ firefighter Patrick ⁣Brady, 42, who⁤ died in the line ⁤of ⁢duty Saturday night while battling an‍ all-hands fire‍ in the ⁢Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn.firefighter Brady suffered a medical episode and went⁢ into cardiac arrest while⁢ operating on the roof⁢ of ⁢a building during the incident, according to FDNY officials.

A Dedicated Public Servant

firefighter Brady was transported to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center,where he was pronounced dead.FDNY Commissioner Robert ⁢Tucker described Brady as a “dedicated public servant” and noted that⁤ “firefighting was in his blood.” This⁤ tragedy underscores the inherent risks faced by firefighters every day while protecting New York City.

A Family Tradition of Service

Firefighter Brady’s commitment to public safety was ‍deeply rooted⁤ in his ⁢family history. His two brothers, Jimmy and Brian,⁤ also serve as firefighters wiht the FDNY, alongside numerous cousins⁢ and uncles, representing generations of ⁢dedication to the department and the city. He joined the FDNY on ⁢July 14,‍ 2014, and ⁤had been assigned to ladder 120 since 2022.

City Mourns a Heroic Sacrifice

Mayor Eric Adams issued a statement recognizing the profound sacrifice made by Firefighter Brady. “Firefighter Patrick Brady gave‍ his life protecting the city we ‍all love; ‍there is no sacrifice‍ that is more selfless than the actions⁣ that took place this evening,” the Mayor stated. This ⁢loss‍ serves as ⁤a stark⁤ reminder ⁢of the courage and commitment demonstrated by the men and‍ women of the FDNY.
