It is crucial to us that the girls can play with us without any pressure… We are pleased to be represented in Düsseldorf and to create a space in which girls of different origins come together, make friends and support each other. Especially in a sport dominated by men like football, it is indeed of great importance to offer girls a platform on which they can develop freely.
The program aims to provide an accessible introduction to football. The two-hour training sessions are designed to be relaxed, allowing girls to try the sport without prior registration. The focus is on enjoyment and participation, without obligations such as club membership or tournament involvement.
Launched in Munich in 2007 and relaunched five years ago,”Girls to the Ball” has grown into one of Germany’s largest extracurricular football programs for girls, offering free training at 24 locations.Besides North Rhine-Westphalia, locations include Augsburg, Karlsruhe, and munich, with further expansion planned, including Chemnitz.
The German Football Bund EV (DFB) supports the project to promote girls’ football. FC bayern women and FC Schalke 04 also cooperate with the project.
