First Look: Raunchy and Gory Slasher Popeye Movie Set for 2025 Release

Popeye the Sailor enters the public domain in January. This change inspires new horror films based on the well-known character, similar to recent adaptations of Winnie-the-Pooh and Mickey Mouse.

ITN Studios plans to release a horror film titled Popeye. The studio is known for Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey. Directed by William Stead, this film will be a “raunchy and gory slasher.” The plot follows the ghost of Popeye haunting camp counselors preparing to open a summer camp.

Popeye is set to release in January 2025.
