First-year students in the Department of Education went to the after-school children’s club for practical training | Hiroshima Bunkyo University
For five days from October 28th (Monday) to November 1st (Friday), 72 first-year students majoring in elementary education went to the after-school children’s club for practical training. This practical training is part of a class called “Understanding Children”, which is a practical subject in the Department of Education.
I was supported by three after-school children’s clubs near the university: Kabe Children’s Club, Kabe Minami Children’s Club, and Kurakake Children’s Club. For the first-year students, this was their first practical experience after entering university.
In the preparatory study at the university before the practical training, we will cover various aspects such as the significance of understanding children, what kind of place the after-school children’s club is, etiquette as a member of society, protection of personal information, and the purpose of observation. I’ve learned what to think before going to Japan.

In the university lecture after the practical training, the students will form groups with other after-school children’s club members who participated in the practical training, and will have group discussions based on their observation records to deepen their learning during the practical training.
I’m a first-year student in the Department of Education, and I’m taking one step at a time toward my dream of becoming a teacher!
