Fitbit has quietly pushed out a light update to some of its most recent smartwatches and fitness trackers, addressing several key concerns for users. According to a support page, the wearable tech giant is releasing version 214.22 for the Charge 6, Sense 2, Versa 4, and Inspire 3 devices. This latest patch brings enhanced “Bluetooth security” features to the Charge 6 and Inspire 3. Google’s support document states, “after updating, you will be asked to ‘reconnect your device when prompted in the Fitbit app.'”

A notable addition to this update is a new set of “status indicators.”

All four devices—Charge 6, Sense 2, Versa 4, and Inspire 3—are receiving this update today (February 20). These new indicators will initially appear on the clock display, offering valuable information about your device’s status. The four icons include a Do Not Disturb (DND) sign, a crescent moon for sleep mode, a red battery symbol for low power, and a crossed-out phone to indicate a lost Bluetooth connection.

“Users can toggle these status indicators on or off through the Settings app under Display Settings. Additionally, these indicators will temporarily display for a few seconds before disappearing, but users can swipe right to review them at any time in the Quick Settings menu,” Fitbit explained.

Security Enhancements and Quality of Life Improvements

This patch helps device owners mitigate the risk of such attacks, especially during workouts, races, and daily use.

This is welcome news for Fitbit users as many users are aware of the other enhancements made last summer when Google inherited Fitbit and incorporated machine learning to improve heart rate accuracy, especially during high-intensity activities and daily fitness tracking. By leveraging its advanced algorithms, Google improved the ability of Fitbit devices to monitor users’ heart rates with greater precision. and 20 Exercise Modes for Inspire 3 device.

The integration of advanced features in wearable technologies like Fitbit aligns with the growing trend of health and wellness tracking, emphasizing the importance of reliable and accurate recordings of heart health.

Addressing Prior Concerns

Simultaneously, Fitbit’s latest update brings a sense of relief for users grappling with overheating issues in specific devices. The Fitbit Sense 2 and Versa 3 devices were reported to experience extreme overheating in January, posed a significant safety hazard, leading to Google issuing a massive warning call to owners, Fitbit devices were prone to severe overheating issues, which could cause severe burns to the user’s wrist. While the new update aims to stabilize overheat problems, users are advised to follow the provided steps to ensure their devices work reliably. This development follows multiple complaints from users who reported severe discomfort and burns during workouts and sleep.

Conclusion

Fitbit’s latest release underscores the company’s commitment to refining their product at every stage. As health gadgets become mainstream, Fitbit not only bolsters device productivity with high-end features but also addresses crucial health-related issues meticulously, maintaining user safety.
