Sir Safety Perugia has cemented their status as Italy’s dominant force in men’s volleyball by reclaiming the SuperLega title for the 2025/26 season, adding to their already stellar year that includes victories in the FIVB Men’s Club World Championship and the Italian Super Cup. The club’s third Scudetto in history was secured in a hard-fought final against Cucine Lube Civitanova, with the decider settling in game three.
The triumph marks another chapter in a remarkable season for Perugia, who have already etched their names in the annals of European and global club volleyball. Their journey to the SuperLega crown was underscored by the standout performance of 41-year-old libero Massimo Colaci, who was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) for his pivotal contributions throughout the campaign.
Perugia’s captain and setter, Simone Giannelli, reflected on the emotional significance of the victory, acknowledging the team’s collective effort and resilience. The club’s success is all the more impressive given their recent dominance on the international stage, having also lifted the FIVB Men’s Club World Championship trophy in December 2025. That triumph in Brazil saw Perugia defeat Osaka Bluteon of Japan in a 3-0 final, their third Club World Championship title in as many appearances.
With the SuperLega title now secured, Perugia’s focus shifts to maintaining their momentum as they prepare for the upcoming Champions League and other continental competitions. The club’s ability to consistently perform at the highest level, both domestically and internationally, has solidified their reputation as a powerhouse in the sport.
The podium was completed by Cucine Lube Civitanova, who finished as runners-up, and Rana Verona, who secured third place. The season’s conclusion not only highlights Perugia’s individual brilliance but also underscores the depth of talent within Italy’s top volleyball division.
As the dust settles on another historic campaign, Sir Safety Perugia enters the off-season with their sights set on further glory, having already made history in 2025/26 as one of the most successful clubs in European and world volleyball.
