Updated June 11, 2025
Projected No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg of Duke University is among 13 players receiving invitations to the 2025 NBA draft in New York, sources said. These players will be seated in the “green room,” a designated area for top prospects.
Joining Flagg are dylan Harper, Ace Bailey, VJ Edgecombe, Tre Johnson, Khaman Maluach, Jeremiah Fears, kon knueppel, Kasparas Jakucionis, Egor Demin, Carter Bryant, Derik Queen, and Asa Newell. These players represent the initial wave of invitations for the NBA draft.
An additional 11 invitations are anticipated, according to sources, completing the list of players expected to be top NBA prospects. The draft process involves close collaboration with NBA team presidents and general managers to identify the top 25 players likely to be selected early.
The green room provides a space for players, their families, and agents to await the announcement of draft picks by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. Each player can invite up to six guests to join them at their table.
While an invitation to the green room is generally seen as a positive indicator of a player’s draft stock, history shows that some invited prospects have slipped into the second round. Examples include Bol Bol, Deyonta Davis, Nic Claxton, Maciej lampe, and Rashard Lewis.
Last year, Johnny Furphy and Kyle Filipowski, despite being among the initial 20 invitees, ultimately fell to the second round of the NBA draft.
The NBA draft, now a two-day event, will commence on June 25 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn with the first round. The second round will follow.
The league is expected to carefully consider the final green room invitations to prevent players and their families from waiting an extended period to hear their names called.
According to recent projections, all initial invitees are expected to be lottery picks, with the exception of Newell from Georgia.
Noa Essengue, a projected top-10 pick, may face scheduling conflicts due to his participation in the German BBL finals with Ratiopharm Ulm. Game 5 is scheduled for June 26, the day after the NBA draft’s first round.
What’s next
The NBA will announce the remaining green room invitees in the coming days, finalizing the list of players who will be present at the Barclays Center on June 25 for the first round of the 2025 NBA draft.
