Heavy Rains Cause Material Damage in Western Basin Provinces
The Ministry of Interior, Promotion of Decentralization and Local Development has issued an emergency bulletin regarding the severe weather conditions in the Western Basin provinces of Laayoune and Tamshkt.
Heavy rains and strong winds have caused significant material damage in the region, particularly in the city of Laayoune. Several homes in various neighborhoods have been destroyed, and the local health center has been severely affected, with the maternity ward being put out of service due to flooding.
In response to the situation, the governor has been briefed on the interventions of the provincial committee, which has visited the affected areas to assess the damage. A civil security team has also been deployed to drain water from the affected homes and the health center.
Efforts have been made to relocate affected families to safer locations until the situation returns to normal. Additionally, damage has been reported in Akfafa village in Akjart municipality, where several homes have been affected by the heavy rains.
In Tamshkat Province, the village of Kalala in Al-Safa municipality has also been impacted, with the grain bank in the village suffering damage due to the heavy rainfall.
