josh Klinghoffer, the former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist and Pearl Jam touring member, has resolved allegations related to a fatal traffic accident. He entered a no-jail plea deal Wednesday, admitting no contest to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence.
The Los Angeles County superior Court in Alhambra, California, sentenced Klinghoffer to one year of informal probation and 60 days of community labor. Judge Rosa Fregoso also ordered him to complete a driver safety course and pay restitution, the amount to be determined later.
Prosecutors brought charges against Klinghoffer in August following the March 18, 2024, incident. Klinghoffer, 45, driving a 2022 GMC Yukon, struck Israel sanchez, 47, in a crosswalk. Sanchez died later at a hospital from blunt force trauma.
During Wednesday’s hearing, a prosecutor cautioned Klinghoffer about distracted driving, stating that a subsequent fatal incident could result in a murder charge. Klinghoffer acknowledged the warning.
