Fleetwood Mac at 50: Fleetwood, Stevie, Lindsey Reunion
Stevie nicks on Fleetwood Mac’s future: “No Plans to Reunite” without Christine McVie
Stevie Nicks has made it clear: there are no plans for Fleetwood Mac to reunite without her “music soulmate,” Christine mcvie. The legendary singer, speaking in a recent interview, addressed the future of the iconic band, confirming that the lineup that last toured in 2019 is unlikely to take the stage again.
The band’s final performance, though not officially billed as such, was a brief set at the MusiCares event at Radio City music Hall in january 2018. This particular performance, though, was reportedly not a pleasant experience for the band members.
the Departure of Lindsey Buckingham
Nicks candidly discussed the circumstances surrounding Lindsey buckingham’s exit from the band. “That’s when he wasn’t very nice to anybody; he wasn’t very nice to harry Styles,” Nicks recalled of Buckingham in an expansive rolling stone interview last fall. She emphasized her patience, stating, “I dealt with Lindsey for as long as I could. You could not say that I did not give him more than 300 million chances.”
Following this period, Fleetwood Mac officially fired Buckingham. They then replaced him with Mike Campbell, the former guitarist of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Neil Finn of Crowded House.
The End of an Era
The final show of that particular Fleetwood Mac tour took place in November 2019. Tragically, Christine McVie, a cornerstone of the band’s sound and Nicks’s close friend, passed away in November 2022.
As Stevie Nicks herself stated, she has no intention of reuniting the band without McVie. She referred to McVie as her “music soulmate” and “best girlfriend.” Despite the absence of these key members, Mick Fleetwood has expressed that the magic of Fleetwood Mac continues to live on.
