What Happened?

Belgium is⁣ currently experiencing an outbreak of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC), with a focus ⁢on the EHEC ⁢strain. ⁢⁣ Reports began surfacing in⁢ late November 2023, initially linked to several deaths in residential care centers in Flanders. As of⁢ early December,the outbreak has ‍expanded,with the first STEC-bes detection ‍reported in Wallonia.
