Flight Fiasco: Hong Kong Travelers Left Stranded as ‘Punch-In’ Mix-Up Grounds Flights
Hong Kong Resident’s Ticket Canceled Due to Careless Social Media Post
A Hong Kong resident recently experienced a shocking incident when his airline ticket was canceled by an unknown individual after he uploaded his electronic ticket to the social platform Threads for verification.
The victim had uploaded his electronic ticket to Threads, but unfortunately, the post did not cover his full English name and electronic ticket number. The victim discovered the post and deleted it 30 minutes later, but later learned his ticket had been canceled by someone he didn’t know when he pre-checked online.

The victim later shared on Threads that he completed the entire journey and returned to Hong Kong. He admitted that he was careless and uploaded his full English name and e-ticket number on the e-ticket to the Internet, which led to the incident. Fortunately, the airline was prepared to handle the incident specially and allowed the victim to board the flight.

The victim also reminded netizens to carefully protect their personal information. When barrister Lawrence Luk received an inquiry from “Sing Tao Headlines”, he noted that the suspect’s behavior in canceling the ticket could have committed the crime of “accessing a computer with criminal or dishonest intent”, but said he would hard to find the suspect who canceled the ticket.
The incident sparked heated discussions among netizens, who left messages on the post expressing their support for the victim in calling the police and hoping that the victim could learn a lesson. Some people thought the victim was too ignorant and negligent.
