Flood Alert: 8 Provinces on High Risk as 16,960 Families Battle Rising Waters

Flood Situation​ in Thailand: ‍32 Provinces Affected

September 22, 2024 – The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) reports the ⁢flood situation between August 16 ⁢and September 22, 2024. There is a flood situation in 32 ⁤provinces, including Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Mae Hong ​Son, Tak,⁣ Phayao,‍ Nan, Lamphun, Lampang, Phrae, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, Nakhon Sawan, Phetchabun, Loei, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Nakhon ‌Phanom, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Prachinburi, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon​ Si Ayutthaya, ⁢Pathum Thani, Rayong, Chumphon, Phuket, Yala, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phang Nga, Trang, and‌ Satun, a total of 172 districts, 753 sub-districts, 3,962 villages, 158.06​ people affected, 6 families, a total ‌of 46 people died, and a ⁣total of⁤ 24 people were injured.

Current ‍Flood Situation

Currently, ⁣there is still a flood situation in 8 provinces: Chiang Rai, Lampang, Tak, Phitsanulok, Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom,⁣ Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, and Pathum Thani. The total affected ⁢areas are 25 districts, 121 sub-districts,⁢ 565 villages, ⁢and 16,960 affected households.

Affected Provinces

  1. Chiang Rai: Floods occurred in ‍2 districts, namely Mae Sai district and ⁤Mueang district, a total of 4 sub-districts, 26 villages, 1,268 households were affected, water levels dropped.
  2. Lampang: Floods​ occurred in 3 districts, including Ngao district, Mueang, and Hang Chat district, a total of 5 sub-districts,‌ 16 villages, water levels dropped.
  3. Tak: Floods occurred in⁢ Sam Ngao district ⁣area, a total of 1⁤ sub-district, 1 village, 25 households were affected, water levels.
  4. Phitsanulok: Floods occurred in the area of 3 districts: Phrom Phiram district, Bang Rakam district, and Mueang district, a⁢ total of 7 sub-districts, 15 villages, 576 households affected, water ‌levels are stable.
  5. Nong Khai: Floods occurred in 6 districts,⁢ including Sangkhom district,⁤ Si Chiang Mai district, and Tha Bo district,⁣ Rattanawapi district, and⁣ Phon Phisai ⁤district, a total of 27 sub-districts, 151 villages, 7,132 households affected, water levels decreased.
  6. Nakhon Phanom: Floods occurred‍ in 3 districts: Tha Uthen district, Si Songkhram district, and Mueang​ district, including 8 sub-districts, 53 villages, ⁤250 households‌ affected, water level decreased.
  7. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya: Floods occurred in the area of 6 districts, namely Bang ‌Ban⁢ district, Phak Hai district, Sena district, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya district, Bang Pa-in district, and Bang Sai district, totaling 67 sub-districts, 301 villages, 7,702 households affected,‍ water levels stable.
  8. Pathum Thani: Floods occurred⁤ in the area of Mueang district, including 2 sub-districts, 2 villages, 7 households affected, water level decreased.

Disaster Response ⁣Efforts

The Department of Public Health has mobilized disaster response⁢ team personnel and disaster machinery, such as the ⁣KA-32 disaster prevention and‍ relief helicopter and remote water pump, water pump,⁣ casualty transport vehicle, fast-moving rescue vehicle, drinking water production vehicle, 200 KVA electric ‌lighting ⁣trucks, small‌ trucks, fast-moving boat⁤ trailers, pontoons, water rescue⁤ equipment. From the District Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center in the area, nearby area, including district disaster prevention and relief centers in other regions where there is no danger situation. Participate in operations to provide ‌assistance and alleviate the suffering of people in areas affected by​ disaster situations. Including contributing to the restoration of roads, buildings in areas where the situation has been resolved so that people can return to normal life as soon as possible.
