Flooding ‍Peaks in Brittany: Oust⁣ River Expected to ‌Crest‌ wednesday​ Morning

The Oust​ River in Brittany, France, is expected ​to reach‍ its peak flood level on Wednesday morning, January 28, 2026. The Laïta River peaked Tuesday night into Wednesday, and while water levels are⁤ receding, flooding continues as of‍ Wednesday ​morning, according to vigicrues, the French national flood forecasting service.

On the laïta River, the peak occurred between‌ tuesday evening and ⁢Wednesday morning. ⁣ Vigicrues reports that the water level began to fall overnight, but “debordements”‌ (overflows) persist ⁤as of ‍Wednesday ‌morning.

An upstream flood wave is currently moving⁣ along the Oust River. The peak is‌ anticipated to arrive in⁤ Josselin‍ early Wednesday morning. Notable ⁤overflows are currently occurring in the ‌Josselin ⁢and Malestroit areas.

The Blavet River reached its peak overnight downstream, affecting​ the areas of Inzinzac-Lochrist and Languidic. ‌Vigicrues reports ⁤that “debordements dommageables”​ (damaging overflows) ⁤are still occurring ‌in thes‍ sectors.
