Floods in ⁢Mae Sai: A Summary‍ of the Situation

Date: September 11, 2024 – The recent flash floods in Chiang Rai province have caused widespread suffering⁣ and destruction. The Mae Sai community group has been serving as a coordination channel for⁣ people to post updates ⁤and ask ‌for help.

Khunsuk Khum Than Khun, the administrator of the Mae Sai community group, has shared an update on the latest situation. After 33 hours of non-stop work, the administrator has⁤ summarized the challenges faced by the victims, relatives, and helpers.

Challenges Faced by the Victims and Helpers

One of the main challenges is the lack of coordination⁤ among‌ the helpers. Every call to every ⁤unit number ⁢is⁤ the same, making it difficult to ‍follow up and provide assistance.

The help center follows the principles of the Commander system, where ‌the mayor is the incident commander at the sub-district level, the district head is ⁢the incident commander at the district level, and the governor is the event commander at the provincial level.

A command center has been established to distribute work, rescue, and relief efforts. ⁢However, the lack of a single center has ⁤caused confusion, and many helpers have not reported their ‍work, leading to duplication of efforts and delays.

Establishing a New ⁢System for Coordination

To address ‍these challenges, the administrator has decided to coordinate directly with the district command center, 095-424-9893, Sergeant Ad, Chorn Provincial Administrative Organization.

A new system‍ has been established to collect information systematically, and posts will be⁣ separated‌ to ensure that victims do not post⁢ repeatedly. The administrator has ‍also organized a team to remove non-water-related posts and ⁤has asked members to share information and ask questions under the comments section.

Warning to Those Who Hinder the Work of Officials

The administrator has also ⁢issued a warning to those whose behavior hinders the work of officials, stating that those who went to look at the cluttered water and hindered the rescue efforts will be blocked and banned from the group.
