Updated May 31, 2025
Oscar nominee Florence Pugh takes on the lead role in Yungblud’s latest music video for his new single, “Zombie.” The video, released Friday, features Pugh as a medical professional grappling with personal and professional pressures.
Throughout the video, Yungblud sings about masking pain and succumbing to a zombie-like state, with Pugh’s performance visually interpreting his lyrics. The song includes the lines: “Oh, I know that I can’t live without you / But this world will keep turning if you do / Would you even want me looking like a zombie? / would you even want me, want me, want me?” By the video’s conclusion, Pugh is seen with angel wings.
Yungblud explained that “Zombie” was initially inspired by his grandmother’s experience with serious injury and trauma, which led to a significant change in her personality. He said the song captures “the feeling of deterioration and ugliness; shutting out the world and the people we love out of the fear of becoming a burden or an embarrassment.” He added,”We all want someone or something to comfort us no matter how we are right now or who we become in the future. But it’s f**ing scary.”
Pugh recently starred in Marvel’s Thunderbolts, leading a team of antiheroes alongside Sebastian Stan and others.
Directed by Charlie Sarsfield and produced by Untold Studios, the “Zombie” music video is part of Yungblud’s forthcoming album, Idols. the album, set to release June 20 via Locomotion/Capitol Records, also features the previously released tracks “Lovesick Lullaby” and “Hello Heaven, Hello.” Yungblud’s Idols World Tour begins aug. 23 in Los Angeles.
