SAN FRANCISCO-Wilmer Flores played the hero Thursday, delivering a go-ahead, two-run double as a pinch hitter to lift the San Francisco Giants over the Cleveland Guardians 2-1. The Giants salvaged the final game of their three-game series at Oracle Park, snapping a four-game losing streak.
Logan Webb (7-5) pitched seven solid innings, surrendering just one run on seven hits. he also recorded nine strikeouts without issuing a walk. Randy Rodriguez and Camilo Doval closed out the game, with Doval earning his 11th save.
The Giants struggled early against Guardians starter Gavin Williams,managing only two hits through six innings. however, they broke through in the seventh against Cleveland’s bullpen. Casey Schmitt singled, and Jung Hoo Lee walked against Matt Festa (1-1). Patrick Bailey then executed a sacrifice bunt, advancing the runners.
