A St. ‍Lucie County, Fla., woman faces murder charges after allegedly killing her⁢ six-year-old son.⁢ rhonda Paulynice, 31, told⁤ police she ⁣believed‍ God commanded⁣ her to “exorcise demons” from Ra’myl Pierre, according to sheriff Richard Del Toro.

Police discovered the boy’s body ⁢at their ‍Fort Pierce home after his school requested a welfare check, citing his absence for over two weeks. Paulynice is now charged with second-degree ‍murder adn altering a dead body.

Del Toro described the grim ⁣scene and the ⁣emotional toll on law enforcement. He noted the boy was found dead in his bed. An autopsy is ⁣pending to determine the exact cause ⁤of death, though investigators suspect the ⁢child died around May 18.

According to Del Toro, Paulynice stated she‍ believed her son was⁣ freed⁢ from demons after he died and that she was ‍awaiting his return. She also ⁢faces a charge⁣ of altering a dead body⁣ for allegedly “preserving” her son’s remains.

“She believed she was being told by God to exorcise demons out of the ⁤child’s body,” the sheriff said. “When the child had stopped⁢ moving and passed away at ⁤that point, she felt that the child had been released of those demons ⁣and was waiting for⁢ him to come ⁣back.”
