Florida Nurse Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Patient’s Check and Credit Card
ST. PETERSBURG,Fla. – A 23-year-old nurse at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is facing serious charges after allegedly stealing from one of his patients. Trenton Duckworth was arrested Saturday night, accused of forging a patient’s signature on a $5,000 check and racking up charges on his credit card.
According to an affidavit from the Pinellas County clerk of Court, Duckworth allegedly wrote the check to himself, forging the signature of Charles P. Langford, his patient at the time. Police say Duckworth than used Langford’s credit card for a variety of purchases, including gas, convenience store items, a dog walker, groceries, and even sports betting.The affidavit states that Duckworth confessed to his actions after being read his Miranda rights. he is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital released a statement following Duckworth’s arrest, emphasizing their commitment to patient safety and their cooperation with law enforcement.
“Orlando Health’s number one priority is the health and safety of patients, team members and visitors,” the statement read. “We take allegations of misconduct seriously and have launched an internal examination. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement.”
