Florida Studio Theatre Announces Equity Auditions for 2025-26 Summer Season

New York City-based actors are invited to audition for roles in Florida Studio Theatre’s (FST) 2025-26 Summer Season. Auditions will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Ripley-Grier Studios in New York City.

FST is seeking Equity actors for three productions: “Honky Tonk Angels,” “Dog Mom,” and “Boeing-Boeing.” Rehearsals for “Honky Tonk Angels” begin May 5, 2026, with previews scheduled for May 27 and 28, 2026, and an official opening on May 29, 2026. The show is scheduled to close on July 5, 2026.

“Dog Mom” rehearsals begin June 2, 2026, with previews on June 24 and 25, 2026, and an opening on June 26, 2026. The production is slated to close on August 9, 2026. Rehearsals for “Boeing-Boeing” begin June 30, 2026, with previews on July 22 and 23, 2026, and an opening on July 24, 2026. The show will close on August 23, 2026.

The contract offered is LORT Non-Rep, with a weekly minimum of $839 (LORT D) until June 28, 2026, increasing to $880 weekly (LORT D) after June 29, 2026.

Audition Preparation

For those interested in the musical “Honky Tonk Angels” or both the musical and a play, the preparation requirements include a 32-bar cut in the style of the show and a short monologue, with a total audition time not exceeding 2.5 minutes. Actors interested only in the plays should prepare two contrasting monologues, one of which should be comedic, also with a total audition time under 2.5 minutes.

Role Breakdown

“Honky Tonk Angels”

The production is seeking a female-presenting actor for the role of Angela, described as a mid-thirties Texas housewife with a strong sense of humor and independent spirit. The character identifies with comediennes like Roseanne and sings songs such as “Stand by Your Man” and “Harper Valley PTA,” requiring a Southern dialect.

The production also seeks a female-presenting actor for the role of Darlene, a late-teens to early-twenties character who grew up in West Virginia and the Mississippi Delta. Darlene is described as sweet and simple, with an Appalachian/Southern dialect, and sings songs like “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” The role requires some guitar playing and potentially clogging.

Finally, the production is looking for a female-presenting actor for the role of Sue Ellen, a mid-thirties Texas woman who has moved to Los Angeles. Sue Ellen is described as smart, attractive, and comfortable with her sexuality, with a Southern dialect. The role requires strong dance skills and potentially clogging and baton twirling, and she sings songs like “9 to 5.”

“Dog Mom”

The production seeks a female-presenting actor for the role of Liz, described as a woman in her mid-thirties or older who is pragmatic and organized. The character is initially closed off after a divorce and learns to care for a dog.

The production also seeks a female-presenting actor for the role of Dog (later called “Foster”), a senior Golden Retriever with a lot of energy.

the production is seeking a female-presenting actor for the role of Nell, older than Liz, who is described as someone unfamiliar with boundaries. The role will also double as The Ex’s Dog, a shy bulldog named Maisie.

The production also seeks a male-presenting actor for the role of Ruben, close in age to Liz, described as a big, loud, and sweet dog. The role will also double as Clay, The Ex.

A swing, male-presenting, forties or older, is also sought to play multiple roles including Shelter Worker, Lady Jogger, Male Passerby, Jamie, Dog Park Goer, Van Man, and Vet.

“Boeing-Boeing”

The production seeks a male-presenting actor for the role of Bernard, a man in his 30s or 40s who is a charming bachelor and a self-proclaimed ladies’ man. The role requires a French or British (RP) accent.

The production also seeks a male-presenting actor for the role of Robert, a friend of Bernard’s in his 30s or 40s, who is looking for a wife. The role also requires a French or British (RP) accent.

A female-presenting actor is sought for the role of Bertha, older than Bernard, who is Bernard’s maid. The role requires a French or British (Cockney) accent.

The production also seeks female-presenting actors for the roles of Gloria (American accent), Gabriella (Italian accent), and Gretchen (German accent), all air hostesses in their 20s or 30s.

Audition Details

Auditions will take place at Ripley-Grier Studios (520), located at 520 8th Ave, New York, NY 10018-6507, in Studio 16J. The audition will run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a lunch break from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Casting Associate Debra Whitfield and Accompanist Matthew A. Stephens are expected to be in attendance.

EPA procedures will be in effect, and an Equity Monitor will be provided. Florida Studio Theatre encourages performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and ages, as well as performers with disabilities, to attend. Actors should bring their Equity Membership card to the audition.
