Three Florida men have been sentenced too federal prison for kidnapping and torturing a rival drug dealer, gabriel Leger, in October 2023.The victim was subjected to 18 hours of abuse, including having hot sauce poured in his eyes and anus, according to prosecutors.
Mario Espino, 25, orchestrated the kidnapping. He, along with Jacob James Guest, 24, and Joey Lawrence Eugene Young, 25, demanded 10 kilograms of fentanyl from Leger’s cartel contacts after abducting and restraining him, authorities saeid.
Espino and Young then tortured leger by pouring hot sauce on his eyes and anus, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney David P.Sullivan.
Leger was eventually discovered in a car’s back seat, his head covered with a pillowcase, and his wrists bound with zip ties and electrical cords, prosecutors stated.
When law enforcement arrived, the trio fled, leaving behind 22 kilograms of methamphetamine, 100 grams of fentanyl, a firearm, and over $10,000 in cash, officials said.
All three pleaded guilty to charges including drug trafficking, kidnapping, and possessing a firearm during the commission of drug crimes.
Espino received a sentence of 22 1/2 years in federal prison, while Young was sentenced to 25 years.Guest, who was present during the torture but did not actively participate, received a 20-year sentence.
The dispute stemmed from Espino’s anger at being excluded from Leger’s drug operation, court documents revealed.
