Adam Schofield Scores Swift KO After Stevenson Fight Fallout

Adam Schofield, seeking to rebound after a controversial fight cancellation, delivered a stunning 35-second knockout of former junior lightweight champion, Farmer. The bout took place Saturday, the same day as the Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. fight.
Schofield had faced criticism after withdrawing at the last minute from a scheduled February undercard fight against shakur Stevenson in Saudi Arabia. Schofield’s father claimed his son had been poisoned by Stevenson’s team, further inflaming the situation.
Despite being a -250 favorite, Schofield quickly justified the odds. A sweeping right hand dropped Farmer early. Even though Farmer beat the count, he was visibly unsteady. Schofield pressed his advantage, scoring a second knockdown and prompting the referee to stop the fight.
Schofield landed eight of 14 punches, securing two knockdowns. Farmer landed just one of two.
The victory was meaningful, as Farmer had previously gone 22 rounds in two close fights against William Zepeda.
After the fight, an emotional Schofield discussed the impact of the Stevenson ordeal. “It just feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders,” Schofield said. “I’ve been doubted since what happened in February. A lot of people didn’t think I would win this fight… After what happened in february I was depressed and wanted to quit boxing… Reading the comments… my baby boy kept me here.”
“I never had doubt,” Schofield added. “Just because I read the comments it made me feel some type of way because people switched up on me.”
