Pregnant women are encouraged to receive flu and Covid vaccines this winter. The seasonal vaccine program started in October. Expectant mothers can get these vaccines for free through Manx Care.
Importance of Vaccination
The flu and Covid viruses can cause serious illness. Getting vaccinated during pregnancy helps protect both mothers and their newborns. Newborns can’t receive vaccinations right away, so maternal immunization is crucial.
Eligibility for Vaccines
The seasonal vaccination program is open to:
- Pregnant women
- Individuals over 75 years old
- Frontline healthcare workers
- Immunosuppressed individuals
How to Get Vaccinated
Both flu and Covid vaccines are available through the government’s vaccination team. Pregnant women can also visit local GP practices and pharmacies to get the flu vaccine.
