Flu Season Still in Early Stages
While flu cases are on the rise, experts say the peak season is yet to come.
“We’re seeing a lot of runny noses among children, but not a significant influenza outbreak,” said pediatrician Cinzia Sforzini. “Thanks to the vaccination campaign, the syncytial virus is also less prevalent. Vaccination remains the best defense against these illnesses.”
The flu vaccination campaign is progressing well, with over 108,000 Como residents vaccinated, compared to 95,605 at the same time last year. though, uptake for the COVID-19 booster shot remains low, with only 19,423 residents receiving it so far.
