Street Prayers Disrupt Neighborhood

Throughout the summer, particularly on Fridays, ‌worshippers have been gathering near the mosque in ​ Fontenay-aux-Roses to⁣ conduct prayers in the street. The practice has taken place in a parking ⁢lot ⁤within the⁢ Blagis residence, a ⁤housing complex managed by Hauts-de-Seine‌ Habitat.

Prefect addresses ​Concerns

The ​Prefect of ⁤Hauts-de-Seine responded to reports ‌of the street prayers in early⁤ August, initiating a series of ‌measured interventions. ‍ The Prefect emphasized ⁣the need to balance religious freedom with maintaining public order,stating that the practice was ‌”unacceptable and disturbs the neighborhood.”

The Prefect’s office confirmed on August 30,⁣ 2024, ⁢that a ⁢graduated approach ‌is ⁢being implemented to ​address the situation, prioritizing both the rights of worshippers ⁣and the‍ well-being of local residents.
