Sardar Azmoun Offers Aid as Israel-Iran Conflict Intensifies

Iranian soccer star Sardar Azmoun, who plays for Shabab Al Ahli, is providing assistance to Iranians urged to evacuate major cities amid the ongoing conflict with Israel. Azmoun reportedly earns an annual salary of £3 million.
The conflict began with Israeli airstrikes targeting military sites and nuclear scientists. In response, Iran has launched missiles and drones into Israel.
According to a Washington-based Iranian human rights group, at least 639 peopel in Iran, including 263 civilians, have died, and over 1,300 have been wounded. Israeli casualties include at least 24 deaths and hundreds wounded from approximately 400 Iranian missiles and drones.
On Thursday, Israel conducted strikes on Iran’s Arak heavy water reactor.The strikes mark the seventh day of the conflict.
Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, is scheduled to meet with counterparts from Germany, France, and the UK in Geneva on Friday.
France, Germany, the UK, and the EU jointly issued a statement on Wednesday urging restraint and a return to diplomacy.
