Formula E Enhances FIA Girls on Track Programme for Season 11

Formula E has announced improvements to the FIA Girls on Track initiative for Season 11. The program will now engage more young women through new race-day activities and behind-the-scenes access that will help them pursue careers in motorsport and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

The initiative aims to educate and promote gender inclusivity in motorsport. Formula E has increased its support to enable more young women to participate and learn about the all-electric sport. The program expands on its previous successes by offering more e-karting opportunities and events in schools and universities.

Last season, the initiative successfully reached over 4,500 young women, hosting various events in 11 race locations. Now, it aims to expand its outreach even further.

Partnership with ABB

ABB has renewed its commitment as the Principal Partner for the FIA Girls on Track program. This partnership emphasizes the importance of gender equality and innovation in racing. ABB aims to inspire the next generation of women through its Sustainability Agenda.

New Opportunities for Young Women

In Season 11, the program will include opportunities for 50 young women to engage with the FIA Girls on Track space within the Fan Village during race days. Participants can attend career talks led by women in the Formula E ecosystem. These talks will cover various roles in engineering, technology, driving, team management, sustainability, media, and marketing.

Additional features of the program include:

  • A new community newsletter to keep participants engaged throughout the year.
  • A resource hub to connect participants with local groups and STEM opportunities.

Voices from the Leaders

Julia Palle, Formula E’s Vice President of Sustainability, stated the commitment to increasing opportunities for young women in motorsport. She stressed the need for a balanced industry that benefits everyone.

Burcu Çetinkaya, Chair of the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission, highlighted the importance of creating accessible pathways for women in motorsport. She believes in equal opportunities for talent.

Karin Lepasoon, Chief Communications and Sustainability Officer at ABB, expressed excitement about supporting the FIA Girls on Track initiative. She noted the importance of diversity in driving business success.

Conclusion

The FIA Girls on Track programme aims to inspire and support more young women in motorsport. It provides valuable resources and opportunities for growth, helping to create a more inclusive environment in racing.
