Fortnite Update 39.50 Arrives with New Crossovers and Lantern Fest

Fortnite players are gearing up for a significant update, version 39.50, which launched today, February 19th, across all major platforms. The update arrives alongside releases in other popular titles like Poppy Playtime and Battlefield 6, and two events within Marvel Rivals, as Epic Games aims to capture player attention with a host of new content and the start of the Lantern Fest event.

This Fortnite update could be the last major installment before the current season concludes in early March, potentially offering clues about what’s to come.

Server Downtime

Server downtime began at 8:30 AM GMT with matchmaking disabled, fully commencing at 9:00 AM GMT (1:00 AM PT / 4:00 AM ET / 10:00 AM CET). According to the Fortnite server status page, the game is expected to be back online by 10:30 AM GMT, lasting approximately 90 minutes. Epic Games announced the downtime on X, stating, “Things get even more legendary in Love & Legends!”

New Content

The 39.50 update introduces new crossovers, including content from Solo Leveling and Honkai Star Rail, alongside the Lantern Fest. The Lantern Fest, running from February 19th until February 25th, is said to celebrate Fortnite’s Middle East and North Africa community. The event features eight-person teams in Reload, with quests available to unlock the ‘Bring it!’ Spray and the ‘Love the Game’ Emoticon.

Fans can also anticipate potential clues regarding end-of-season events.

Known Issues

Epic Games has acknowledged several known issues. Players may experience problems rebooting their Squad mates, and the “Enemy Team Wiped!” pop-up may not appear after eliminating a Squad. The Storm status icon may not accurately reflect when the Storm is shrinking.

Specifically, controller users may encounter issues with the on-screen keyboard not appearing when attempting to name or rename Sidekicks.
