Winsen (Luhe), Germany – Anna Foster launched a strong Irish challenge at the Amundi German Masters, carding a 3-under 70 at Green eagle golf Courses. Her performance places her just two shots behind the leaders in this Ladies European Tour event.
Four players-Alice Hewson of England, Helen Briem of Germany, Amelia Garvey of New Zealand, and Ellinor Sudow of Sweden-are tied for first place after each shot a 5-under 68.
Patricie Mackova of Czechia, along with English players Hannah Screen and Bronte Law, and Diksha Dagar of India, are in fifth place at 4-under.
Foster’s round included six birdies and three bogeys. She is joined at 3-under by Shannon Tan of Singapore, Kelsey Bennett of Australia, Anne-Charlotte Mora of France, and Danish players sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen and Natacha Host Husted.
Lauren Walsh trails Foster by one stroke after a 71. Canice Screene is 1-over,and Annabel Wilson is 4-over.
Briem, the hometown favorite, recorded seven birdies and two bogeys. She attributed her success to improvements in her putting and wedge play.
“I think my day was really solid,I improved my putting and my wedges,” Briem said. “I had many birdie chances and used many of them, so I’m really happy with them.”
