On September 23, Wang Lixia, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Autonomous Region and Chairman of the People’s Government of the Autonomous Region, met with a delegation of students from the Peking University “Eastern Scholarship” in Hohhot on behalf of Sun Shaocheng, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Autonomous Region. Fang Fang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Peking University and Vice President, Wu Yangang, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Autonomous Region People’s Congress, and Yang Jie, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC of the Autonomous Region, attended the meeting.
Wang Lixia, on behalf of the Party Committee and the People’s Government of the Autonomous Region, welcomed the students of the “Oriental Scholarship”. She said that in the 77 years since the establishment of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, earth-shaking changes have taken place, and the good situation of economic development, ethnic unity and tranquility in the border areas has been maintained for a long time. Especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping has placed high hopes on the development of Inner Mongolia, requiring us to build “two barriers”, “two bases” and “one bridgehead” and continue to build a “model autonomous region”. The development achievements of Inner Mongolia witnessed by the students were achieved under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee and the cordial care of General Secretary Xi Jinping. She said that Inner Mongolia has beautiful natural scenery, rich mineral, land, wind and solar energy resources, and ranks first in the country in coal production, new energy power generation, and milk, beef, mutton and cashmere production. Opening up to the outside world is advancing in an all-round and high-level manner. I hope that all students will often visit Inner Mongolia, learn about Inner Mongolia, travel around Inner Mongolia, actively promote exchanges between Inner Mongolia and relevant countries and regions, and contribute to the construction of a global community of shared future for the South. Wang Lixia hopes that Peking University will place more student activities in Inner Mongolia, and at the same time further deepen cooperation between the two sides in various fields.
Fang Fang said that Peking University has a deep relationship with Inner Mongolia, and has close cooperation and exchanges in the fields of education, science and technology, energy, medical care, and talent. In recent years, Inner Mongolia has made extraordinary achievements in science and technology, economic and social development, ecological civilization construction, energy resource development, and national unity and progress. The northern border of the motherland is full of vitality and prosperity. It is hoped that all students will have a deeper understanding of Chinese-style modernization through this visit, learn and share the experience of Inner Mongolia, actively promote higher-level exchanges and cooperation between their own countries and China, and serve as messengers of peace and friendship.
Guled, a student representative, said that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, socialism with Chinese characteristics has achieved unprecedented achievements. During our visit to Inner Mongolia, we saw the people living in harmony and well-being, the harmonious coexistence of mankind and nature, and the prosperous economic and social development, which deeply shocked us. China has redefined the concept of “development”. We hope to learn from China’s experience, share China’s opportunities, and explore a sustainable development path that suits our reality.
