PinAn Technology to Lay Off 250 Workers Due to End of OEM Business
PinAn Technology, a factory in Liudu Science and Technology Park in Keelung City, will lay off a large number of workers due to the end of all assigned OEMs. The Keelung City Government received a notice and 186 employees in three phases will be laid off, including 21 foreign employees.
PinAn Technology held a big press conference on September 6. Executive Deputy General Manager Wu Huizhu said that a certain customer has gradually reduced its OEM business since PinAn Technology recently acquired the Republic of China. An official notification from this customer is expected that all assigned OEM business will end on November 30.
Wu Chunjing, director of the Labor Relations Section of the Keelung City Government’s Social Affairs Department, said in an interview that the city government received a large number of layoff notices from PinAn Technology. 250 employees, including 21 foreign employees, are expecting layoffs.
Wu Chunjing said that Pinan Technology will lay off 33 Taiwanese employees on the 8th, and the next layoff is expected to take place on the 29th and early December. The city government will visit factories to provide guidance on follow-up and cooperate with the Keelung Employment Center to assist in matchmaking for unemployed workers.
Keelung Mayor Ji Guoliang said that the city government will hold a special meeting to discuss follow-up support plans for employees. Large companies such as Lianhua Foods have recently hired a large number of local employees. The city government in Keelung will actively promote local employees.
