Guy Ritchie’s latest venture, “fountain of youth,” is struggling to find its footing with both critics and audiences. The treasure-hunting action-adventure, starring John Krasinski, Natalie Portman, and Eiza González, reportedly cost $180 million to produce.

The film follows estranged siblings as they embark on a quest to discover the legendary Fountain of Youth. Though, the movie is being described as a mediocre imitation of similar adventure films like “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “National Treasure.”
Review aggregator sites reflect this sentiment. “Fountain of Youth” currently holds a 37% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 65 critic reviews, with an audience score of 42%. Metacritic reports a critic score of 41 out of 100 and an audience score of 5.2 out of 10.
IMDB users give the film a 5.8/10, making it Ritchie’s second-lowest-rated film, only ahead of “Swept Away.”
The high cost of the film, which was shot in locations including Vienna, Egypt, and England, has raised eyebrows. Its budget was triple that of Ritchie’s “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.” “Fountain of Youth” bypassed theaters and is available on Apple TV+.
What’s next
Ritchie is expected to announce his next project soon, and industry observers will be watching to see if he can rebound from the disappointing reception of “Fountain of Youth.”
