A downtown Portland shooting on October 3, 2026, sent two adult males to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and resulted in four men being detained following a high-speed vehicle elusion and neighborhood foot chase, according to portland.gov reporting. Portland Police Bureau officers assigned to Central Precinct and the Entertainment District Detail responded to reports of a disturbance and gunfire near Southwest 3rd Avenue and West Burnside Street at 12:20 a.m.
Officers arrived to find physical evidence of gunfire at the downtown intersection but no victims or suspects at the immediate scene. Investigators quickly tracked a vehicle leaving the downtown area toward Interstate 84, where the driver refused to stop for police and eluded officers at high speed.
Air Support Tracks Suspect Vehicle to Northeast Flanders Street
Police ground units did not pursue the speeding vehicle, but the bureau’s Air Support Unit tracked the car from the air. The vehicle eventually stopped near Northeast 58th Avenue and Northeast Flanders Street, where the occupants abandoned the car and fled on foot into the surrounding neighborhood.
Officers from Central, East, and North precincts, alongside a K9 unit, converged on the area to establish a containment perimeter. The coordinated response resulted in the detention of four men pending further investigation.
Hospital Arrival Triggers Enhanced Community Safety Team Response
While police contained the suspects on Northeast Flanders Street, two adult males arrived at a local hospital via private vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. Medical staff assessed and treated the injuries, confirming they were not life-threatening.
The Portland Police Bureau’s Enhanced Community Safety Team responded to the investigation. The bureau’s Focused Intervention Team and the Enhanced Community Safety Team investigate all gunfire directed at community members as attempted murder cases.
