Four Longhorns Earn All-SEC Volleyball Honors
Texas Volleyball Stars Shine Bright, Earn All-SEC Honors
Austin, Texas – The University of Texas volleyball team is riding high after a stellar regular season, and four longhorns have been recognized for their outstanding performances with All-SEC honors.
Leading the charge are seniors Madisen Skinner and Marianna Singletary, both named to the All-SEC First Team. Skinner, a powerhouse outside hitter from Katy, Texas, has been a force on the court, averaging an impressive 4.14 kills per set while hitting at a .274 clip. Her recent performances have been notably dominant, with a scorching 5.94 kills per set and a .439 hitting percentage over the last five matches of the regular season.
Singletary, a defensive stalwart from Missouri City, texas, has been a wall at the net, tying for the SEC lead with 1.47 blocks per set. Her exceptional defensive prowess earned her the SEC Defensive Player of the Week award for three consecutive weeks earlier this season. Singletary’s contributions extend beyond blocking, as she has also tallied 162 kills with a .356 hitting percentage.Joining Skinner and Singletary in the accolades is sophomore Reagan Rutherford, who earned a spot on the All-SEC Second Team. Rutherford, also from missouri City, has been a consistent offensive threat, racking up 221 kills (2.57 per set) with a .325 hitting percentage. She has also contributed 46 total blocks, showcasing her versatility on the court.
Rounding out the Longhorns’ All-SEC honorees is freshman Ayden Ames, who was named to the All-Freshman Team. Ames, a middle blocker from Prosper, Texas, has made an immediate impact, becoming the first true freshman to start at the position as Chiaka Ogbogu in 2013. her impressive performance includes 51 total blocks and 92 kills, with a .375 hitting percentage.
With four players earning All-SEC recognition, the Longhorns are poised for a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. the team will learn it’s postseason seeding on Sunday at 5 p.m. CT during the NCAA Selection Show on ESPN.
